We had four Christian Cycling members at the 2022 Waco Wild West Skittles 100 ride. Three riders; Monty, Ethan and Sherry and our designated SAG wagon driver Tammy.
Pictures above L to R is Monty (spoke director), Ethan (our son) and Tammy Van Horn. The onsite registration had their act together! I guess you have to when there are over 1,100 riders in the event!
Just before the National Anthem and starting off the massive amount of riders, I was checking out the other riders and their bikes. My wife, Tammy noticed an electric bike I had never seen before!
I spoke with this young lady and learned that this bike was converted into an Ebike by her and her friends. It was good to see her still "in the game" and enjoying life. At our second stop around the twenty mile mark, My son was explaining to this young lady about bikepacking. She was surprised at all the gear we carried on our bike to the camp grounds. I was excited to see my son explaining it to her.
The three riders finished the 28 mile route in about three hours. We are a recreational group and spend quite a bit of time "stopping and smelling the roses." Tammy did catch us all finishing the race and crossing that finish line. We got our finishers medals and of course a big bag of CANDY!
The Waco Wild West 100 is on our calendar for next year! I am looking forward to the ride. I am looking forward to sowing more good seed. I am looking forward to visiting with those that I met this year and hope to continue to see on the trails. You can look at a whole bunch of pictures here.
I hope this finds ya'll getting out there and doing the same. Have a blessed day.
