23 May 2026 - Art Garcesa - Burleson, TX: The 25th Burleson Honey Tour
We had a very blessed day today at the BTX Honey Tour. We did not set up our tent because of rain in the morning but it cleared up before the ride. It turned out to be a very beautiful day for a ride. This is one of our favorite rides and it did not disappoint! Great rest stops and awesome volunteers.
23 May 2026 - Jerry Bolin Burleson Honey Tour 2026 We arrived in Burleson with clearing skies, cool and humid, and occasional water on the ground, but looking like a nice day ahead. A pretty good turnout and very friendly volunteers. Bertha and I both rode the 44 mi route, but only the first 5 miles or so were together - then we split and rode seperately. I had to make a few water stops as my right hand is still weak and could not grab the water bottle while riding - making slow progress, but improving. Only saw a few familiar faces at what turned out to be a nice ride with cool temps and rolling routes.

A few weeks ago Coach Bonnie Boland got the call that her sister died, this morning we get the call that my sister's husband died. Both calls were definitely not expected.
A good reminder that we should cherish every minute God has given us.

16 May 2026 - Monty Van Horn - Tour de Norway is in the books. Tammy Estes Van Horn and I arrived at 0600 hours and Michael Keel was setting his tent up with help from Tamara. We set our tent up next to him and once finished, went and picked up our packets at registration. Tina and Kelly walked up, it was my first time meeting them, what a blessing. Tina joined in February. Art Garcesa arrived and we went to registration together, just visiting. It had been a little while since I had seen my Lil brother. We ran into Nixon and I had just seen him at the Stampede on Belton. Jack Carmicheal Thompson, Nicky Thompson, Damien and Rease Thompson arrived while I was introducing myself to the local hams. They got a nice setup. Brigette Miller Sparks and Jerry arrived and I snapped a photo with them and Bikin Mike. We got together for a group photo about 10 minutes before the ride started. Michael Barker and Philip Reed both arrived and we squeezed in a couple more pictures. I noticed Michael wasn't carrying any water so I made the statement, "Wow! No water?" He had forgot to get them and was peddling back to his vehicle. David Bridgewater and his son arrived at the last minute and we got another picture with them. What a great turnout of Christian Cycling Texas today! We broke down the hospitality booth and was on our way home by 1300 hours. We stopped in at the Burger Boy and Nick Lamb shows up at my door window! I hadn't seen him forever. We visited until his food was ready and did our goodbyes with a hug.

11 May 2026 - Monty Van Horn - This morning, Tammy cooked me my favorite breakfast, fried eggs and bacon! I talked with a few local hams before uploading the rest of the bike. Tammy said a prayer for me and I was on my way. The weather was awesome. I rode straight through. I talked to a half dozen hams while riding as well. I arrived at the Mother Neff State Park - Texas Parks and Wildlife about 1230. I was just getting ready to head to the shower when I got a text from Toby N5TMY that said 7.250 Palo Duro State Park. I called to verify he was telling me HE had activated that park. He had so I set a new record and setting up the radio in less than ten minutes! I used the POTA33 with my EFHW and G90. Got him right away. We chatted a little then bid him good luck. I headed to the showers. After a nice hot shower, I hunted a few parks until I got enough QSO's, the last park I got was on 14.272 and he QRT right after me. So I stayed there and called CQ POTA. LOL, didn't have to ask if the frequency was in use. I got some more folks and I am happy with my EFHW! I got New York and Ontario even. Anyway, it looked like it might rain so I called QRT and put up the tent and threw everything inside! Guess what, then it cleared up. LOL. I plugged the radio back in and started organizing the mess I made inside the tent. Bobby Sanders KB5CZH sent me a text to try 7.285 so I dialed it in and we chatted for a few minutes. Another QSO for the activation too. Whohoo. Then I decided to go for a walk and check out the wash pond and the tower. Got to see a few deer along the way. When I got back it was almost time to activate for 12 May (Zulu time). It really is a cool day for this time is the year in Texas. I'm looking forward to some shut eye, I'm starting to feel the 22 miles LOL. Good night all.
9 May 2026 - Monty Van Horn - We had an early start this morning with wake up at 0430 hours. Tammy Estes Van Horn, Ethan VanHorn, Rylan and I headed out at 0515 for Belton in the truck. We arrived and started setting up at about 0630. Sherry Dowd Ayres was there to help us. It was a pleasure to meet our new member from Davilla. Jack Carmicheal Thompson and Damian arrived shortly after and we had some fellowship time before the ride started. It was good to see Nixon again. We did a group photo before lining up for the start. The folks did s great job with presenting the colors. Tammy took a few pictures of us at the starting line as well as a short video of us taking off. We all rode the 30 mile route. We all met at the halfway rest stop and visited with Jo Ann Sugg and Barbara Copp Considine. We got pictures with the Fire Ant too. Tammy did a short video of Damian, Sherry and me finishing the ride. Jack was not too far behind either. He did his 3rd fastest 40K today! Great job brother. We had a hotdog with some chips supplied by the Belton Lions Club - Belton, Texas. We had some more great fellowship and then broke down the site and headed home. The boys were tired and slept on the way.
As many know, the Texas spoke keeps growing and growing! I have sent out about a dozen welcome packets in the past month! It is always a special blessing to be able to give the welcome packet to a new member in person! I was able to give Damien his packet at the Belton Stampede.
6 May - Jeff Postell - Over the years, I’ve had many setbacks in my cycling journey, but setbacks are not what define a person. What defines us is how we respond. I choose to keep moving forward, stay committed, and trust that every obstacle is building greater strength, resilience, and purpose within me. I thank God for sustaining me through every challenge, for renewing my mind, and for giving me the strength to keep pressing on. As Isaiah 40:31 reminds us, those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength, rise up, run, and not grow weary. My journey has not always been easy, but with God’s grace, I will continue to move forward with faith, determination, and gratitude.

4 May - Jack Thompson - Well, the morning started at about 6am. I was up before the sun!! I was ahead of the game, having packed the car up the night before. I made breakfast of Blueberry Pancakes and Sausage and then stirred the house awake. After eating we hit the road. Minutes later we were at Freedom Park and making contact with Leo Corona for our set up location and parking assignment. We had arrived for The Day of The Child, put on by The Exchange Club of Gatesville. Reese Thompson and I set up our area and took PICTURES as directed (LOL). We had fun talking to the kiddos and adults alike. The hot dogs were good. Nicky Thompson brought me a coke and then adopted Fritz ( A dog) from the adopt drive at the event. Randal Heferkamp and Rebekah Ann McDonald came and helped out. Dean Thompson and Elizabeth came out for a while too. We had a great day and was blessed to see and interact with the kids.
Setting the hospita;ity tent up at community events is a great way to network.
