Once again, a big thank you to all! The following update is just a small portion of what the Texas spoke has been doing. We continue to grow grow grow! To God the Glory indeed! Amen? Our spoke will turn three years old on 4 August. Ya'll keep sharing the love of Jesus whether you are setting up hospitality or riding in an event or heck, just riding on your own. Keep the rubber down and God bless ya'll
(7 June - Jim Boland) Christian Cycling-Texas set up at Mesquite Rotary Bike Rally, Mesquite TX.
(3 June - Jim Boland) Happy World Cycling Day! This celebration on June 3rd encourages using bicycles. It promotes the health, and economic benefits of cycling, making it a day to celebrate the simplicity and versatility of this mode of transportation. I also think Coach Bonnie Boland, it would be great day to buy another bike!!!! (Can't blame a guy for trying!)
(31 May - Tina Cansler) Rode in the Magnolia Ride in Durant Oklahoma.
(31 May - Art Garcesa) As part of our ministry here in North Texas, we build or repurpose bikes for new riders so that they do not have an excuse to not ride lol. Welcome to Daniel Skiba (not on FB yet but we will get him on here shortly). I would like to say big thanks Forrest Wonderly for helping me show him the ropes today. He said he had a great time. Sorry but I did not post the ride because it was last minute.
We had a very blessed day today at White Rock Lake with Steve Veronesi, David Bridgewater, Gerald Bolin. saw Chad Meis and even got to hang out with Kurtis Register.
(30 May - Lonnie and Kathy Sutton) Shorter ride today - just the neighborhood loop, but great weather and mild wind. Now, for some BBQ.
(26 May - Jonathan Coen) Marble Falls to Fort Worth is a wrap. what an amazing adventure. what a great way to spend the memorial day weekend. no better way to say thank you to all who served and gave the ultimate sacrifice. We could have a weekend like this because they sacrificed so much. we are blessed for sure. today was tough. we got rained out in the beginning. it was pouring in clifton. we decided to load up and drive 20 miles north to get past the first wave of storms. starting in Morgan and 53 miles in the rains returned. we were in Burleson. we hunkered down at a fellow fwba members place. a lightening bolt hit a few hundred feet from us and exploded. i think we all jumped 10 feet in the air. the rains weren't going to let up so we loaded up and called it a trip. great times with new and old friends. A very sincere thank you to FWBA - Fort Worth Bicycling Association for a very well run trip and all the hard work and effort it took to be successful.
(25 May Jonathan Coen) Marble Falls to Fort Worth day 2 is in the books. Such a fun time with FWBA - Fort Worth Bicycling AssociationKent LunskiGlenn de Veyra
(25 May - Art Garcesa) Yesterday: Burleson Honey Bike Tour, Burleson, TX
We were very blessed to have been able to participate the BTX Honey Tour yesteday. It was awesome to ride and see our NTC brothers and sisters. To God All The Glory!
(24 May - Jonathan Coen) MF2FW- Day 0 and Day 1 - 92 mile route complete. Great to have Mike, Glenn de Veyra, and Jonathan Coen with us this year. First evening was a visit to Longhorn Cavern, very diverse and well worth the visit. Then we left Marble Falls for our longest ride.
(21 May - Mark Cooks) The Ride of Silence by - Mike Murgas
Tonight we number many, but ride as one,
In honor of those not with us-
...friends, mothers, fathers, sisters, sons.
With helmets on tight and heads down low,
We ride in silence, cautious and slow.
The wheels start spinning in the lead pack
But tonight we ride and no one attacks.
The dark sunglasses cover our tears
Remembering those we held so dear.
Tonight's ride is to make others aware
The road is there for ALL to share.
To those not with us or by our side,
May God be your partner
on your final ride.
(17 May - Jack Thompson) This morning Reese Thompson and I were up and out the door by 530am heading to Clifton Texas for Tor D Norway. With predictions of bad weather hitting us from the TV and Radio, we were praying for a clear weather pattern. God gave us a great day for a ride to!! Rain held off till almost 5pm this evening, we'll after the race!! Don Vess meet us at Clifton High School where I made contact with The Ride director, Paige Key ( her and some of the ride volunteers are in a group picture all in gray shirts). Without great and wonderful people volunteering thier time and effort, these ride couldn't go on. God loves a Servants Heart and we at Christian Cycling - Texas sure love them too!! Paige gave my set up location and Don, Reese and got the canopy up in a jiffy!! In speaking with Paige through out the day I learned that the ride had 350 riders!! Which is a blessing for them noting two years of it be canceled. One cancelation due to a flood and the other road construction. The ride marshall gave some last instructions and information, and then all 350 we off and rolling!!! Once the riders started coming over the finish line Don, Reese and I were putting Tammy Estes Van Horn 's bell to work giving those rider some attaboys and attagirls!! We spoke to lots of folks curious about Christian Cycling - Texas and The Fireant Tour and gave cards to both!! We also gave a few stickers and magnets out to a pair of brother who rode the 18 mile route with their mom. They asked how to join christaincycling, I told them but added to speak to mom first since they were q0 and 12!! Great kids!! A big shout out to Brother Art Garcesa, some many people just stopping by to see Art. He touches so many people with his warmth, smile and Godly attitude!! You Brother Art are a blessing and I wanna be like you when I grow up!! Once we got tore down, i went to say our good byes and to offer help for next year to a very appreciative Paige!! Today was such a blessing to be a blessing!!
(17 May - Jerry Bolin) The Tour de Norway had a great turnout. It was very humid starting out with overcast skies, clearing more as the day progressed and a wind from the south building as the day went on. Rode with Chad Meis, who was on his new bike-love the paint scheme! Forrest Wonderly was also there with us, as well as the Christian Cycling group (sorry i did not have time to visit or get a pic). Great ride today! *** forgot to add the update: one post reported 350 registered and another said 335...Great turnout either way.
(17 May - Jonathan Coen) my first event of the season is in the books. My riding schedule has changed a little bit this year so, it was very nice to get this one under the belt and push myself to my longest ride this year. As always, it's great seeing great friends and meeting new ones. Congrats to all who attended and finished. Head For The Hills Bike Rally of Cedar Hill, Texas 2025
(17 May - Mark Cooks) The Dallas Bike Ride was a memorable experience, starting from Dallas City Hall and winding through Bishop Arts and Jefferson Blvd. I resisted the temptation to stop for a meal at La Calle Doce Restaurant to ensure I finished the ride. The route took us across Dallas' stunning bridges, culminating in a return to City Hall. The event attracted a notable 3700 riders.
(12 May - The Suttons) Had to try this bad boy route again. We did it a few minutes better this time. It is quite a challenge to be sure. Plenty of hills, including the "Belle's Plain Beast."
(12 May - Monty Van Horn) What a day. It started off with Tammy making some Waffles! I rode to Mother Neff State Park on my checkpoint. I arrived to the park and set up camp then for me a nice hot shower. Then I got the radio up and running just before Brandon (KI5YCR) arrived. We had a successful activation just hunting park to park. Tammy Estes Van Horn and Ethan VanHorn showed up and ruined Jack Carmicheal Thompson surprise by telling me he was riding this way. Yep, Jack arrived and did a great job! All of us visited for about an hour and ate some chicken. Brandon and I hunted a few more parks and then took a break waiting for the new day (1900 hours). At 1859 hours I put out the first CQ POTA call and immediately got a qso. The qso lasted into the 1900 so he got both days! We got 14 qso's in 15 minutes! Then I broke down the portable station and put it all back in the bike. I enjoyed a nice cup of hot chocolate with LOTS of marshmallows while listening to the 2000 hours net. I checked in while sipping on my night cap. I got an update that Sproket is doing better, Praise the King!
(11 May - Jonathan Coen) Happy Mother’s Day to the most amazing woman I know — my girl, my love, and one of the strongest, kindest souls I’ve ever met. Watching the way you care for those around you and the heart you put into everything you do reminds me daily how lucky I am to have you in my life. I’m so blessed to walk beside you, to learn from you, and to love you. You inspire me with your grace, your strength, and your beautiful spirit. I hope you feel just how appreciated and loved you are.
(10 May - Monty Van Horn) What a day! It started with a 0500 hours alarm and by 0600 Ethan VanHorn. Tammy Estes Van Horn and I were on our way to the Stampede on the Chisholm Trail bicycle ride in Belton. Doraine Chirco and Nick Scooby met us there to pick Ethan up. Gerald Bolin and Bora Bolin (Garland area reps) arrived and I was blessed to be able to present her with the Christian Cycling welcome packet. Forrest Wonderly was right behind them and I got to give him his welcome packet! Jack Carmicheal Thompson and Christy arrived also. I helped Christy air up her tires. Then I see Lonnie Sutton and Kathy Sutton just standing there with their bikes, smiling at me! I had no idea our Abilene area reps were coming! What a blessing of a day already! Then Tammy noticed a nice recumbent bike and the owner, Dave, let her sit in it. She liked it. At about 0745 we are lined up getting ready when I hear a familiar voice calling me name. I turn to see John A Banafoe, my brother in Christ, smiling. We started on time at 0800 and Tammy was able to ride non-stop to the 15 mile rest stop. The fire ant was a big hit there. Deana Connell and Dustin Connell had dropped in to visit for a few minutes and the Fire Ant must have some sort of separation Anxiety because it looks like he is trying to stop the truck as they were leaving. On the way back, Tammy stopped at the first rest stop to take a picture of Spiderman. We finished the 30 miles right along with Lonnie, Kathy and Bertha. I did get to get a picture of Nixon as he crossed the finish line. Ethan was the only one of us that won anything from the bib raffle and he was excited. A margarita mix! He wants to celebrate his birthday with it.
(7 May - The Suttons) Last time we rode this route we were on our old bikes and Lonnie's was stuck in middle gear. It took us almost 4 hours last July and I almost died. I would say the new bikes are paying off!
(3 May - Art Garcesa) We had a very blessed day today at the 1st Day of the 2025 DFW MS 150 Round Up Ride. Many of our brothers and sisters in this group rode today with their teams and shined their lights brightly! (Matthew 5:16)
Congratulations to Lupita Cortes, Alejandro Nuñez, Paul Brown, Katie Christman, Laura Marquard, Jeff Postell, Vicki Postell, and Ryan Hochdorf for all of the hard work and dedication that you've all put in for such a great and noble cause! God bless.
